There’s an old pay phone on 22nd Street and 9th Avenue, right around the corner from Chelsea Square Diner in New York City.
As my friend and I walked past it, we began discussing the extinction of pay phones, and how cell phones have saved us so much time: The plane lands, and before we even unbuckle we’ve let ten people know we’ve arrived, checked our Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat, taken two selfies, and confirmed our rental car, dinner reservations, hotel stay, and next flight.
I wondered aloud what people are doing with all their extra time…
Without missing a beat, he responded, “cat videos”.
I’m dying! 😂
